This morning I was reading the Center for Courage and Renewals recent newsletter and found that Parker Palmer's thoughts were so inspiring. It is in times of great loss that we have an opportunity to look again and see what is truly important in our lives. We are challenged to show compassion and generosity not just to our friends and family but to strangers. We are brought closer to each other and closer to the divine source of all.
Here is a Parker Palmer quote “Scarcity is the logic of the ego, while abundance is the logic of the soul.” and a poem that I find lovely and sustaining in these times.

Ghanaian Poem…translater unknown
Journeying god, pitch your tent with mine so that I may not become deterred by hardship, strangeness, doubt.
Show me the movement I must make toward a wealth not dependent on possessions,
toward a wisdom not based on books,
toward a strength not bolstered by might,
toward a god not confined to heaven.
Help me to find myself as I walk in other's shoes

The most important value that no one can ever take from me is peace.

Since I know that peace is a choice and no matter what happens, I stay spiritually grounded in this value. I practice choosing peace daily in order to navigate the ebbs and flows of life.

I can tap into peace absolutely any where at any time including while driving, in conversations and during business meetings.

I consciously create an abundance of peaceful energy which gets stored up for stressful times and then I know to pull it up and draw from the well, the universal spirit energy that delivers to me, right to my front door, so that all I have to do is say, "Hi there, welcome, please come in and stay a while."

My greatest resources for any challenge are friends and family, people who listen without judgement and give unfiltered feedback. This also includes those who are no longer with us. The memory of people who have given support is often very comforting when dealing with present problems.

Very thought provoking! I went and got a dollar bill, and what really stands out to me is the ONE. The shadowing reminds me of a physical, emotional, and spiritual layering. When I am in a place where I am taking good care of my physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, I spend money in a much more responsible way. If one of those areas of my life is out of whack, when I am not in the oneness of life, my relationship with money is less nurturing, for me and others.

Thank you for this wonderful tool. I will think of this gentle reminder every time I pull money out of my wallet.

Blessings to you Pat!

My trouble with American money is how it celebrates dead white men. I feel alienated from their ancient profiles. The only two who have lived on in infamy are Lincoln and Washington. The rest ought to be replaced with women, native americans and african americans.

Excellence balancing work and life for me involves simplifying. When I am verging on the stressed-side of any given day, I often have to stop and rethink what I had planned to do and what I really NEED to do. Some days too much is planned and it is better to re-prioritize all of the plans and determine what can wait and what really has to be done that day. I often eliminate spending money to alleviate the stress. Do I really need to go to Target this week? Can I wait another week to buy toilet paper and whatever else I had planned to get? I force myself to stick to the basic necessities and eliminate the extras. I also try to avoid certain places where I will certainly have difficulty parking or waiting in a checkout line and plan to do that when I won't have those issues.

What a beautiful website Pat!

In your words and pages, I find so much inspiration and meaning in living a life full of abundance in every way.

In my life coaching practice, guiding others to find deep meaning living a life from soul, I am refuled with your richness in work and in living a life based on integrity, generosity and service.

In my practice, I often encourage others that "the world needs you to live your dream" and what a shining example you are!

You radiate light and love in action. Your gifts are exactly what we all need individually and collectively at this time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the amazing work that you are doing. And I very much appreciate the "Questions to stir your prayerful thinking" from last Sunday's service at Unity in Berkeley. I am still meditating on this!

Much love and peace,

Hi Pat,
I missed your blogs on the days you did not have the time to write. You have certainly struck a chord with me and I appreciate your thoughts. Don't be so hard on yourself about not writing every day. You are forgiven, although there really is nothing to forgive! It is much better to do what you can when you can and not kill yourself trying to do everything all the time. Writing takes time and inspiration and how can one be inspired to write every day in the shuffle of every day life? I notice people tend to be too self critical, too hard on them selves, especially during the dark days of winter. It would do more good to let things go more often knowing that it is the best move for you on any given day. I planned to do a little baking every day this week, but instead have been battling ants that have invaded my house, every day. So, I let the baking go until the ants get the hint. Thank you, Pat, for this inspiring effort! More another day! -kp

Dear Pat,
What can I say the video was simply overwhelming and the message was so beautiful and so touching. I also laughed and cried, but the tears were tears of utter joy, thanks so much for the link to the magical video. I will follow through with the exercise, but at the moment I am as stated on overwhelm and it is also really late.. I read most of your blog and will come back and reread all of it, makes so much sense. Thanks for knowing what to say regarding $$$$$$$, you go to the heart of the matter.
In application and gratitude
